Physical Activity Strategy
The more you move, the better you feel. That's why physical activity is a key component of a healthy and happy lifestyle. BCHLA has four initiatives to take British Columbians from the TV to the trails. Knowing that small steps lead to big results, and that their actions can influence their children and aging parents, adults are the primary target. By blazing the trail, BC parents can help their children walk a mile or more in their shoes.

-
7 out of 10 British Columbians will be at a healthy weight.
To achieve these targets, BCHLA has three objectives to support British Columbians:

To encourage physical activity by focusing directly on the 35-54 year old target population.
-
To build on existing opportunities and infrastructure.
-
To create supportive environments that nourish and enhance physical activity.
Fast Facts…
- 51% of British Columbians are not sufficiently physically active.
- Brisk walking has the greatest potential for increasing the overall activity levels of a sedentary population.
