Community Based Awareness Initiative

BCRPA Logo Communities are critical to realizing the benefits of physical activity. Through this initiative, the BC Recreation and Parks Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation are giving them tools to spread the good news. This will raise awareness and promote local opportunities for physical activity so that people can act on what they have learned from campaigns like ActNow and ParticipACTION. When British Columbians hear the message to get active, they will now know where to go.
BCRPA’s Community Based Awareness (CBA) initiative has awarded 34 grants up to $4,000 each to support communities to launch marketing campaigns using the the Marketing Action Plan (M.A.P.) resources to raise awareness to the benefits of physical activity and promote local opportunities for getting active. Using the theme Active is What You Make It these groups will promote community events, programs and initiatives targeting 35 – 54 year old less-active adults to inspire participation in physical activity.  Click to view a list of the successful communities and a description of their campaigns.Active Is…Promoting Physical ActivityBCRPA’s Community Based Awareness (CBA) initiative is supporting BC communities with funding and a Marketing Action Plan (M.A.P.)to promote community events, programs and active living initiatives.  Visit www.PhysicalActivityStrategy.ca to see how these communities are using posters, radio spots, social media and more to implement marketing campaigns promoting physical activity.
