Webinar: See Jane Thrive! – Lessons for Healthy Early Childhood Development

Join us on Wednesday June 24th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am for this webinar that will explore lessons for healthy early childhood development.

It’s often said that ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and this is definitely true when we look at creating conditions for healthy early childhood development. The early years are critical, because they establish a foundation for and influence the trajectory of a child’s future health and well-being.

This webinar that will look at how the physical and emotional well-being of children can be supported by the broader community.

Our presenters will explain some of the current research and describe practices, partnerships and policies that help young children to grow and thrive.

  • Joseph Dunn, Provincial Director of Success by 6 will describe how collaboration between diverse partners strengthens supports for young children and helps to make communities more family-friendly. He will highlight some of the exceptional work being done by the Early Years Councils to plan and improve service delivery for young children and their families across BC.
  • Drawing from lessons in Canada and around the world, Dr. PJ Naylor will discuss how to create environments that make it easier for young children to eat healthy and be active. She will explain how a ‘whole-of-setting’ approach can promote physical literacy, foundational movement skills and healthy eating in the early years.
  • Dr. Mariana Brusoni will explain the latest research on risky play and the balance between injury prevention and healthy child development. She will discuss some of the planning and policy implications for children’s health and safety.
