We’re Inviting Proposals for the Active & Safe BC Initiative

In partnership with the BC Ministry of Health, BCAHL is providing oversight of the Action Plan contained within the Active People, Active Places BC Physical Activity Strategy and to support the Leads of the funded initiatives under the Action Plan. Supporting schools, communities, recreation/sport organizations to safely promote and deliver physical activity while ensuring people stay injury free is viewed as a major component of the overall strategy and BCAHL is tasked with supporting Active & Safe BC implementation.

The Active & Safe BC program will offer online training and key messages that will reach the targeted audience for each activity/injury type to change practices to reduce sport and recreation related injuries while continuing to promote physical activity. The use of new and innovative approaches is encouraged as it is anticipated that all resources and training will be made available online only.

The overarching objective of this project is to support schools, communities, recreation/sport organizations to safely promote and deliver physical activity while ensuring people stay injury free. This project will also support child and youth (age 6-19 years) awareness and uptake of behaviours to enjoy injury-free physical activity. This action will build off the Canadian Active and Safe Initiatives and address a number of the gaps which still exist in BC.
