We’re Hiring: Physical Activity Grants and Partnerships Coordinator

Formed in February 2003, the BC Alliance for Healthy Living (BCAHL) is a group of organizations that came together with a mission to improve the health of British Columbians. Through leadership and collaborative action, BCAHL advances health promoting policies, programs and environments that support the physical and mental well-being of British Columbians.

We are currently seeking a full-time Physical Activity Grants and Partnerships Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination of BCAHL physical activity grants and partnerships, ensuring the efficient administration and monitoring of the grants. Working under the direction of the Manager, Policy and Programs, the Coordinator will develop and strengthen partnerships to support physical activity across the province.

Other areas of responsibility will include support for the development of a physical activity collaborative, ensuring alignment and avoiding duplication by connecting with regional networks and other coalitions.

Skills required:

  • Open communications and proactive problem-solving in order to maintain and build on existing relationships
  • Excellent writing, research and presentation skills
  • Project management experience – in order to create and manage workplan
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Post-secondary degree
  • Experience in a relevant field, such as: health promotion, recreation, non-profit or government

Job details:

  • Execute allocation agreements ensuring details are agreed upon by all parties
  • Tracking disbursement of grant funds
  • Along with the Manager, Programs and Policy, review reports of expenditures, assess deviations in budget and workplan for funded initiatives in a timely manner and work to support solutions
  • Under the guidance of the Manager, Communications ensure that communications and media for funded projects and the PA Collaborative are coordinated with other stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for further collaboration between provincial physical activity stakeholders.
  • Research, writing, and technical understanding of social media and web resources will be required.

Terms of Employment:

  • This is a full-time contract position from September 2015 to September 2016 working out of the BCAHL office in Vancouver. Funding may extend the program beyond the end date but that is undetermined at this time.
  • Vacation leave to be pro-rated at the rate of 15 days per year. Vacation accumulated at 1.25 days per month with eligibility to request vacation leave after six months of continuous employment.
