What’s Your Profile?

Vancouver has just made the most livable city list…again!  But when it comes to livability within BC – Vancouver has some pretty good company.  Just before we moved our family to Gibsons (on the beautiful Sunshine Coast), my husband and I high fived as we read that it had been rated as the world’s most livable small community.

While the natural beauty of these places gives them a competitive advantage, there are many planning and policy decisions that take a beautiful setting and transform it into a fantastic place to live.

We are pleased that, as of this week – BC’s communities have one more resource to help inform their efforts in creating more livable communities.  The Provincial Health Services Authority developed BC Community Health Profiles for 130 incorporated municipalities in British Columbia (all communities that had sufficient data available).

The BC Community Health Profiles provide local data for use by health authorities, local governments, and non-governmental organizations for collaborative community health planning.

There’s lots of great info in the profiles. Have a look and see what it says about your community.

Then let us know how you’ll be using what you see there to get your community to the top of the livability list!
